        Shiqiang Wan

        Wan Shiqiang is a doctor, professor and doctoral supervisor. He is currently the Dean of the School of Life Sciences, Henan University. In 1998 and 2002, he received his ph. D. respectively from institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences and the University of Oklahoma. From 2003 to 2004 he was a postdoctoral fellow at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. From 2005 to 2010, he worked in Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences. From 2010 to now, he works in Henan University. His awards are as follows: In 2009, he was awarded the National Outstanding Youth Fund; In 2011, he was selected as the distinguished professor of “Changjiang Scholars Program”, and in 2012, he was selected as the young and middle-aged scientific and technological innovation leading talents of “Innovation Talents Promotion Program” of Ministry of Science and Technology, and “Zhongyuan Scholar” of Henan Province. In 2013, he was selected as the national candidate of “Millions of Talents Project”, and in 2014, he was selected as the Scientific and technological innovation leading Talents of “Ten Thousand Talents Program”. Professor Wan has held the following posts: Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Vegetation and Environmental Change from 2007 to 2010, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Ecological Academic Society from 2008 to 2013, and Executive Director of the Chinese Ecological Academic Society from 2013 to now. In 2011, he was appointed as an international Advisory member of the Scientific Committee of the Joint Research Network on the Feedback of Terrestrial Ecosystem on Atmospheric Composition and Climate Change, and a member of the Expert Review Group of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
        He has published more than 100 SCI papers in international mainstream journals such as Nature Geoscience, Nature Geoscience, Ecology Letters, Global Change Biology, New Phytologist, Soil Biology & Biochemistry. It has been cited more than 3,900 times in total, and the H index is 35. In 2014 and 2015, it is listed as China's highly cited scholar by Elsevier for two consecutive years. His representative achievements and ideas of global change control experimental design have been reported successively by Nature Research Highlights, Science News, Faculty 1000, Science Daily, Nature Asia, Nature News In Focus and New York Times Syndicates, etc., which have attracted high attention and evaluation from international peers in the field of Global Change Ecology. It has attracted more than 100 foreign scholars, including 3 members of the National Academy of Sciences, and more than 600 researchers from over 20 domestic research institutes and universities to visit and study, and carry out exchange and cooperative research. In addition, he is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Plant Ecology-UK (2007-2013), editorial board member of the Journal of Applied Ecology (2012-), Global Change Biology (2011-) and Science Bulletin (2008-2012).
        He has studied on field control experiment of global change and terrestrial ecosystem in temperate grassland and subtropical-warm temperate forest ecotone in north China for over ten years and carried out a series of creative works on how driving factors of global change impact terrestrial organisms developing and ecosystem carbon circulation. He has also presided over the design and implementation of the first large-scale (5.3 hectares) multi-factor global change control experiment, which involves grass mowing, fertilization, precipitation and temperature increasing. Except for that, he has also presided over more than twenty large-scale field control experiment simulation platforms, which includes changes in land utilizations, carbon dioxide accumulation, warming climate, changes in precipitation pattern, atmospheric nitrogen deposition, fire and wind erosion etc. factors.
        He has also host over ten projects, including Key Research Project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, projects from National Outstanding Youth Foundation of the National Natural Science Committee, and key projects, general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, Main Direction Program of the Chinese Academy of Science, and projects from Innovative Talents Program of Science and Technology Department of Henan Province.
